China celebrated its 42nd Teachers’ Day on September 10, 2026. The Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Work Related to the Celebration of the 42nd Teachers’ Day. Centered on promoting the spirit of educators and fostering a culture of respecting teachers, the notice advocates the whole society to respect and benefit teachers, and safeguard the wellbeing and health of educators.

Reports from Xinhua, People’s Daily and national educational research institutes show that teachers are burdened with heavy daily workloads, with weekly working hours exceeding standard limits. Lesson preparation, teaching and administrative work eat into their spare time. Many teachers lack regular exercise and suffer from occupational health issues such as sub-health and neck & shoulder strain.

Standing at the podium to nurture students, teachers also need sound physical health to support their educational career. We hereby propose that all teachers take good care of themselves amid busy work, keep exercising and balance work and rest.
